Male Sprague Dawley rats were used in which biliary production/hour after oral administration of the product was determined. One control group and another group treated with a reference choleretic drug (ursodeoxycholic acid) was compared.

At six hours, blood was drawn for the determination of other biochemical parameters (GOT, GPT, uric acid, glucose and alkaline phosphatase).

Conclusion: HERBETOM 1 HB possesses choleretic activity similar to that of a control drug and significantly superior to the bile production of untreated animals. These data reinforce the hypothesis that this syrup in animals without liver pathology, does not cause enzymatic alterations or at the level of glycemia, showing exclusively stimulatory activity on bile production.
